Pane
Chromium-based browser with a built-in AI agent that remembers what you were doing across sessions instead of losing context every time you close a tab
🔗 Visit PaneDescription
Closing your browser (or just switching tasks) usually means losing all the context of what you were researching or working on — Pane is a browser, built on Chromium, designed specifically to not do that. It remembers your browsing context across sessions, can capture meeting content, and has an AI agent built directly into the browsing environment to help navigate and complete tasks.
It's aimed at knowledge workers and developers who want native browser speed combined with AI-assisted continuity, rather than losing work context every time a session ends. Being open source under AGPL-3.0 and self-hostable, it supports local models as well as API keys and OAuth connections to services like ChatGPT Pro, GitHub Copilot, or Qwen — so you're not locked into one AI provider.
💬 Our review
The short version: Pane is a genuinely different pitch from a browser extension bolted onto Chrome — it's a full browser fork with persistent AI-agent context baked into the core experience, not an add-on.
Against AI-agent browser extensions (which only get as much context as the page they're injected into and lose everything when the browser closes), Pane's edge is native, persistent context built into the browser itself — meetings, browsing history and task state survive across sessions. The trade-off is real: switching your daily-driver browser to a fork is a much bigger commitment than installing an extension, and maintaining a Chromium fork's security patches is a real ongoing cost the small team behind it has to keep up with. Multi-provider support (local models, API keys, OAuth to ChatGPT Pro/Copilot/Qwen) is a genuine plus for anyone who doesn't want to be locked into one AI vendor. Worth it if persistent AI-agent context across your whole browsing session is a priority you'll actually use daily; skip it if you're not ready to replace your main browser.
