HomeLabInfo
A free, self-hosted tool that draws a live map of every device on your home network and every Docker container running across your servers, so nothing on your homelab is a mystery.
🔗 Visit HomeLabInfoDescription
If you've ever wondered what's actually plugged into your home network, or lost track of which Docker container is running on which machine, HomeLabInfo answers both questions in one dashboard. It watches your network for new devices the moment they connect, and gives you a live, clickable map of your whole setup instead of guessing from router logs.
HomeLabInfo is a self-hosted, cross-platform network discovery and visualization suite. It uses DHCP discovery to detect and identify devices the instant they request an IP address, sending a webhook alert for new clients, then continuously scans to track online/offline status over time. An interactive topology view lets you arrange and inspect your network visually, while a separate container-management layer monitors Docker containers across multiple agents from one central web UI — useful for anyone running services spread across more than one physical or virtual machine. It's deployed via Docker Compose, either as a single-machine setup or distributed across multiple servers with agents.
💬 Our review
The short version: HomeLabInfo is a smaller, younger project than the big self-hosted monitoring names, but it fills a specific gap — combining network device discovery with cross-host Docker container visibility — that most single-purpose tools don't cover together.
Against Homarr or a dashboard-focused tool, HomeLabInfo isn't a startpage — it's closer to a network inventory and container-fleet monitor, so the comparison that matters more is against Portainer (which handles Docker container management well but has no network-discovery layer) and NetBox (which handles network documentation thoroughly but requires manual entry rather than live DHCP discovery). HomeLabInfo's pitch is doing both halves — automatic discovery and container status — in one lighter-weight tool, which suits a single homelab operator more than an enterprise IT team. With around 100 GitHub stars and active recent commits, it's a legitimate, maintained project, but it doesn't yet have the maturity or community size of Portainer or NetBox — worth trying for a personal homelab, riskier to depend on for anything mission-critical.
