Description

Working with AI agents on a long-running project usually means re-explaining context every session — what decisions were made, what sources back them up, what the current state is. EverRoom is built to hold that context permanently instead of losing it between chats.

It combines a knowledge-management layer (wiki pages, entities, links, decision routing) with an "evidence ledger" of versioned, addressable sources, and a layered memory system (MemoryCore, with L0-L3 derivations) that lets an AI progressively build up understanding rather than starting fresh. Work happens inside project-scoped "Context Rooms" where AI can create and edit versioned documents directly, with persistent agent sessions and streaming events. It's built on Electron, React, TypeScript, Fastify, and SQLite, is local-first by design with no mandatory cloud sync planned for v1, and is currently macOS-focused.

💬 Our review

The short version: EverRoom is tackling the same underlying problem as Entire (AI agent context loss) but from a knowledge-management angle rather than a Git-checkpoint angle — a wiki-and-memory layer rather than a code-conversation record.

Against Notion or Obsidian, EverRoom's differentiator is that it's built specifically for AI agents to read, write, and derive memory from, not just for humans to organize notes — the layered MemoryCore concept has no real equivalent in either tool. It's very early (created mid-August 2026, actively pushed as of this review), macOS-only, and explicitly scoped to avoid continuous screen recording or autonomous multi-agent swarms in v1, which keeps its ambitions in check for now. A reasonable bet for developers already deep in AI-agent-assisted workflows who want persistent, structured context; not yet a general note-taking replacement for Notion or Obsidian users, and Windows/Linux users will have to wait.
