OpenActi

OpenActi

A phone keyboard that doubles as an AI agent — hold one button while typing and it can rewrite, translate, or finish the task for you, without leaving the app you're in.

Description

Normally, getting AI help on your phone means stopping what you're doing: you open a separate chatbot app, copy your text over, wait for a reply, then copy it back into your message or email. OpenActi tries to remove that back-and-forth by putting an AI assistant directly inside the keyboard you're already typing with. You just hold down a button — the "Acti Bar" — while typing an instruction, and the keyboard itself carries it out, right there in whatever app you're using: a text message, an email, a note.

OpenActi is an agentic keyboard app for iOS and Android that layers AI agent execution on top of standard mobile text input. Instead of being locked to one chatbot app, the agent runs system-wide inside any app that accepts keyboard input — drafting replies, translating text, summarizing a paragraph, or otherwise acting on what's on screen. It's free to download from the App Store and Google Play, has been featured among Google's AI Startups selection, and maintains an active Discord community, though it does not yet publish separate paid tiers or a monetization roadmap.

💬 Our review

The short version: if you're tired of copy-pasting between your messaging apps and a separate chatbot just to get AI help with everyday typing, OpenActi's in-keyboard agent removes that step entirely — and it's currently free.

Its real differentiator against app-specific AI features (Gboard's built-in AI, or standalone assistants like the ChatGPT app) is reach: it works inside any app that accepts keyboard input, not just one context, so the same shortcut helps whether you're in Messages, Mail, or a note-taking app. That's a genuine convenience win for quick everyday tasks. The tradeoffs are worth weighing before relying on it: a third-party keyboard sees everything you type, which is a real privacy consideration for sensitive conversations — check their data policy first — and with no disclosed pricing or business model, it's unclear how the free tier holds up long-term. Best for people who want lightweight AI woven into daily typing, not for anyone needing a dedicated, heavyweight AI workspace.
