Open Analytics
Cookieless, privacy-first web analytics with an AI chat interface — a paid, open-source alternative to Google Analytics.
🔗 Visit Open AnalyticsDescription
Google Analytics comes with a real cost most site owners don't think about: cookie consent banners, GDPR headaches, and visitor numbers that get skewed the moment someone blocks tracking. Open Analytics is built to sidestep all of that — it tracks visits, funnels, and revenue without cookies or personal data, so there's no consent banner to show in the first place, and the numbers you see respect Do Not Track signals by design.
It's open source (AGPL-3.0) and self-hostable, with a hosted version at getopen.so for teams that don't want to run their own infrastructure. Beyond the basics (realtime dashboard, funnels, Core Web Vitals), it adds revenue attribution via Stripe/Polar integration and an AI chat interface for querying your own analytics in plain English. The hosted plans start at $9/month for 50K events on one site, scaling to $49/month for 5M events — there's a 7-day trial but no permanent free tier.
💬 Our review
The short version: a well-built, modern entry into the privacy-first analytics space (Plausible, Fathom's territory) with a couple of genuine differentiators — revenue attribution and an AI query interface — but it's paid-only, so it has to earn its keep against free or cheaper alternatives.
Against Plausible or Fathom, Open Analytics' edge is baking in revenue tracking and AI-assisted querying rather than treating them as afterthoughts; against PostHog (which does far more but is heavier to set up), it's simpler and analytics-focused. The catch: no free tier, and being privacy-respecting by design means it will show lower numbers than Google Analytics for the same traffic — a real gotcha if you're used to GA's inflated counts. Worth it if you want cookieless analytics with revenue insight built in and don't mind paying from day one; skip it if Plausible's simpler free-adjacent pricing already covers your needs.
