Description

Instagram's 'saved' folder feels permanent until the account behind a saved post gets deleted, renamed, or turned private — and then your reference collection just breaks, silently, with no warning. Saved Posts Tracker fixes that by making its own permanent copy: it archives everything you've saved to a private database you control, so your collection survives even when the original source doesn't.

It's a self-hosted, open-source (Docker-based) tool that manages multiple Instagram accounts with isolated sessions, syncs media permanently to Cloudinary's CDN, and keeps an append-only timeline of changes so you can see exactly when a source account changed or disappeared. In-browser AI-powered visual search (via Transformer.js and Qdrant) and facial recognition are on the roadmap but not live yet. Running it requires your own Cloudinary credentials and comfort with Docker deployment — there's no hosted SaaS version.

💬 Our review

The short version: a smart, narrow fix for a real and underserved problem — Instagram gives you zero guarantee your saved posts stay accessible, and this tool takes that guarantee into your own hands, at the cost of needing to self-host it.

General bookmarking tools like Pocket or Pinboard save links, not the actual Instagram media behind them, and generic archival tools like ArchiveBox aren't built for Instagram's session/auth model specifically. Saved Posts Tracker's edge is that specificity — but it demands real setup work (Docker, your own Cloudinary account) that a plug-and-play SaaS wouldn't, and its flagship AI search features are still 'coming soon,' not shipped. Worth it if you're a designer, researcher, or archivist who has actually lost saved references before; skip it if you just want a quick bookmarking app.
