Description
Most social platforms push you toward photos and video; textlog does the opposite on purpose. It's a microblogging site limited to 500 characters (15 lines) per post, with no image uploads at all — the idea being that constraint forces short, thoughtful writing instead of engagement-bait visuals, and it keeps the whole platform lightweight and fast.
What it trades away in media, it makes up for in formatting depth for a technical audience: posts support markdown, tables, LaTeX math, code blocks (including some that are actually executable inline), polls, quizzes, and spoiler tags. Conversations thread with pinning, locking, and "whisper" (semi-private) reply modes. Against Twitter/X or Mastodon, textlog gives up reach, discoverability, and media entirely, but gains something those platforms don't offer: LaTeX, executable code blocks, and a feed that's genuinely just text, which developers writing about code or math will appreciate far more than screenshotting a code snippet to post as an image elsewhere. Being a solo-developer, open-source project also means it's small — don't expect the audience size or feature velocity of an established network.
