Description
Claude Code and similar AI coding assistants normally run in a terminal window, which makes it hard to see what the agent is actually doing — is it editing the right file, browsing the right webpage, testing on the right device? Superagent gives the agent a real desktop home: its own app window, a real browser it controls with your logged-in sessions, and even a live iOS Simulator so you can watch it test a mobile app as it builds it.
Superagent is a free, open-source (MIT-licensed) macOS application built specifically around Claude Code. Each task gets a persistent chat that survives restarts, its own Git worktree so parallel tasks don't collide, and a dual-viewport layout showing desktop and mobile side by side. A companion iPhone app lets you approve or redirect the agent remotely over an end-to-end encrypted connection — useful if an agent needs a decision while you're away from your desk. It runs entirely locally, needs no separate account or server, and works with your existing Claude subscription rather than charging its own fee. It's an early project (built with Electron, TypeScript and React) but Apple-notarized and installable directly.

The short version: if you already pay for Claude Code and find the terminal-only experience limiting — especially for anything involving a browser or a mobile app — Superagent is a free upgrade with essentially no downside since it doesn't touch your wallet or your data.
It sits in a growing niche of "agent cockpit" apps (alongside tools like Tessera) that wrap coding agents in a friendlier interface without replacing the underlying agent itself. Superagent's specific edge is the browser and iOS Simulator integration — genuinely useful if you're building or testing a web or mobile product and want to watch the agent interact with it visually rather than guessing from log output. Being free, open-source, local-only and requiring no account is a real strength for privacy-conscious developers, but it's also a very young project (single-digit GitHub stars at the time of writing), so expect rough edges and slower bug-fix turnaround than a funded commercial tool. It only works with Claude Code specifically, and only on Apple Silicon Macs, so it's a non-starter for Windows/Linux users or people using a different coding agent.
