Description

Bank-syncing finance apps are convenient but usually mean a company you've never met holds a live feed of your transactions, forever, as part of its business model. Securo tries to have it both ways: real bank sync through established providers, but run on a server you own, so the data stops with you.

Securo is an open-source, self-hosted personal finance manager covering multi-account tracking with running balances, transaction search and CSV export, file import (OFX, QIF, CAMT, CSV), automatic categorization rules, recurring transactions, budgets, savings goals, and asset/net-worth tracking. Bank sync is handled through Pluggy, Enable Banking, or SimpleFIN, with multi-currency automatic FX conversion for international accounts. It supports multiple users with admin controls, two-factor authentication, and OIDC login, and optionally offers self-hosted AI agents for LLM-based chat over your financial data. It's licensed under AGPL-3.0, meaning any hosted/network use of a modified version must also be open-sourced.

💬 Our review

The short version: Securo is the most feature-complete self-hosted personal finance tool in this batch — real bank sync, multi-currency, asset tracking, and even optional local AI chat — for people who want Mint-level convenience with none of the data-sharing.

The bank sync via Pluggy/Enable Banking/SimpleFIN is the real differentiator: most self-hosted finance tools rely purely on manual CSV import, which is a real friction point for daily use. Combined with multi-currency FX and asset tracking, it covers more ground than narrower tools like Wallos or BudgetBee.

The honest gaps: bank-sync providers vary in bank coverage by country, so results depend on where you bank, and running your own AI agent adds setup complexity most users won't need. The AGPL-3.0 license also means anyone hosting a modified public version must open-source their changes — a non-issue for personal use, relevant if you'd resell it as a service. For anyone wanting real bank sync with full data ownership, it's the strongest option here; for pure manual budgeting with no bank connection at all, Firefly III remains simpler.
