Description

iOS Live Activities — those live-updating widgets on your Lock Screen that show a pizza delivery or a sports score — are normally only available to apps that go through the full Apple Developer setup, certificates and App Store process. ActivitySmith gives you that same Lock Screen presence for your own backend events (deployments, alerts, business metrics) without building or shipping an app at all.

You pair your iPhone or iPad to the ActivitySmith companion app, then send events via API, SDK or CLI, and ActivitySmith handles Apple Push Notification service internally — no Apple Developer account or push certificate needed. It offers immediate push notifications, live activity streams for long-running processes like CI/CD pipelines, and an MCP server so AI agents can trigger notifications directly. SDKs cover Node.js, Python, Go, PHP and Ruby, with integrations for GitHub Actions, GitLab, Vercel, Netlify, Sentry, Linear and Zapier. Pricing starts at Developer ($9/mo, 2 devices) up to Scale ($129/mo, 60 devices), with a 14-day free trial.

💬 Our review

The short version: ActivitySmith fills a genuinely underserved niche — real-time iOS Lock Screen visibility for backend events — cheaply enough that it's worth trying if your team lives on iPhones and cares about deploy/incident visibility.

General notification tools like Pushover and ntfy.sh are cheaper or free and can technically alert you too, but neither offers native iOS Live Activities on the Lock Screen or Dynamic Island — they land as regular push notifications, which is a meaningfully worse at-a-glance experience for something like watching a deployment progress live. The trade-off is platform lock-in: this only works for iOS devices, with Android still on a waitlist, so mixed-device teams will need a fallback tool anyway. At $9/month for a solo developer, it's cheap enough to test against your actual CI/CD or monitoring stack before deciding if the Lock Screen visibility is worth paying for over a plain Slack or Pushover alert.

Cons

iOS uniquement pour l'instant, Android encore en liste d'attente

Alternatives gratuites (Pushover, ntfy.sh) existent si l'écran verrouillé n'est pas indispensable
