DeskcommCRM
A free, self-hosted CRM built for businesses that sell through WhatsApp chat — with an AI agent built in that can talk to customers itself, on infrastructure the business fully owns instead of renting from a SaaS vendor.

Businesses that sell entirely through WhatsApp — a common setup in e-commerce, clinics, real estate and service businesses in many markets — usually end up paying for a CRM like Kommo or Intercom just to organize those chat conversations into a pipeline. DeskcommCRM offers the same idea without the subscription: you host it yourself, and you own the data.
DeskcommCRM is an open-source, multi-tenant CRM connecting to WhatsApp via WAHA Plus or the Meta Cloud API, with AI agents (using retrieval-augmented generation, scoped per tenant) that can handle customer conversations, qualification, and follow-ups directly. It includes a Kanban pipeline board, a real-time three-panel inbox, customer 360 views, rule-based automations in a WHEN/IF/THEN format, and anti-ban mechanisms (throttling, jitter, time windows) to keep WhatsApp numbers from getting flagged. It's MCP-ready and connects to OpenRouter, Anthropic and OpenAI for the AI layer.
💬 Our review
The short version: DeskcommCRM packages a genuinely useful combination — self-hosted CRM plus an AI agent that can actually run WhatsApp conversations — that would normally cost a recurring subscription with Kommo or Intercom, for free, if you're willing to run the infrastructure yourself.
The anti-ban mechanisms (throttling, jitter, time windows) show real attention to the practical risk of using WhatsApp for business automation, which is a detail a lot of hobby projects skip. As with any young open-source self-hosted tool, the tradeoffs are the usual ones: no vendor support line, you're responsible for uptime and updates, and the AI agent quality depends entirely on which model you connect (OpenRouter, Anthropic or OpenAI, each billed separately by usage). For a business already comfortable self-hosting and willing to pay only for LLM API usage instead of a SaaS seat price, it's a strong alternative to Kommo or Octadesk; for a non-technical team that just wants it to work out of the box, a hosted competitor remains the safer, if pricier, choice.
