Description

Making music with someone else usually means being in the same room, or sending audio files back and forth and losing all the spontaneity of jamming together. Jamboree tries to recreate that in-person jamming feeling online, letting a small group shape sound together in the same session at the same time.

Jamboree is a free, browser-based collaborative synthesizer: up to eight people can join a session (shared via a simple URL, no install required) and manipulate modular synthesis components together — oscillators, filters, envelopes, and LFOs — in real time. It's currently at an early version (0.1.0), with a minimal interface and limited documentation, and there's no visible way to export or save a finished composition yet. There's no stated business model or public roadmap.

💬 Our review

The short version: Jamboree is a fun, no-cost way to jam with friends in a browser for a few minutes, but it's an early-stage hobby project, not a tool to build serious music production work around yet.

Against BandLab and Soundtrap, which are full collaborative DAWs with recording, mixing, and export, Jamboree does far less — it's a shared modular synth toy, not a production environment, and the lack of export or save means anything you make in a session is essentially disposable. Splice Sessions targets a different, more professional collaborative-recording use case entirely. What Jamboree does have going for it is immediacy: no signup, no install, just a URL to share and instant real-time sound-shaping with friends, which is genuinely closer to the feeling of jamming in person than file-based collaboration tools. For casual, playful sessions where nobody needs to keep the result, it's a pleasant novelty; for anyone wanting to actually finish and export a track collaboratively, BandLab or Soundtrap are the realistic choice today.
