Dash0
An observability platform built entirely around the open OpenTelemetry standard, so your monitoring data isn't locked into one vendor.
🔗 Visit Dash0Description
Most observability tools want you to install their own proprietary agent, which works fine until you want to switch providers and realize your years of monitoring setup don't transfer. Dash0 flips that: it's built natively on OpenTelemetry, an open industry standard for collecting metrics, logs, and traces, so the data pipeline you set up stays useful even if you eventually move elsewhere.
Dash0 bundles APM, real user monitoring, infrastructure monitoring, distributed tracing, log management, and even AI-agent monitoring into one platform, queryable via PromQL, SQL, CLI, or API, and stored in its own SignalStore. Pricing is consumption-based ($0.20 per million metric points, $0.60 per million spans/logs/events) with no per-seat fees and all features included in a single plan — no tier-gating. It offers a 14-day unlimited free trial with no credit card required. The company raised a $110M Series B at a $1B valuation, with customers including Zalando and Bridgestone.
💬 Our review
The short version: if vendor lock-in from a proprietary observability agent worries you, Dash0's OpenTelemetry-native design is a genuinely differentiated reason to pick it over Datadog or New Relic — you can query with open standards like PromQL and SQL instead of a proprietary DSL.
Its consumption-based pricing (pay per data point, not per host or per seat) tends to undercut Datadog for teams with moderate telemetry volume, and having every feature available on one plan avoids the usual SaaS trick of gating APM or RUM behind a pricier tier. The honest tradeoff versus Honeycomb (which built its reputation on high-cardinality trace querying) is that Dash0 is younger and its retention windows are shorter — 30 days for logs and spans versus 13 months for metrics — so it's not the pick for teams that need long-term trace archives. For teams already leaning into OpenTelemetry who want one platform instead of stitching together several, Dash0 is a strong, fairly priced option; teams with very specific high-cardinality trace-analysis needs may still prefer Honeycomb.
